The budget was tight but the client’s expectations were high in this remodel of the existing master bathroom in a townhouse.
The homeowner wanted a metropolitan, spa-like look with a space that would accommodate washroom prep, a make-up area, and a shower that was more interesting than the existing 30-in. square enclosure.
Because the bathroom was in a townhouse, the window location could not be changed, plus the homeowner wanted to retain the existing jetted tub. Accordingly, the starting point for the new design was based on the window and tub area.
Extra shower space was added from a closet in an adjacent room, so it didn’t affect the home’s overall floor plan. A vanity was built from semi-custom cabinetry, and a pocket door with obscured, divided-light glass makes the room feel larger and more open.
“While not one of our most expensive or lavish bathroom remodeling projects,” the remodeler says, “this one might just be the most popular transformation we have in our display portfolio. Many prospective clients ask us to utilize some of these same design elements in their projects. The client has become a great referral source.”
