The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) has made billions of dollars available to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil and improve the comfort, safety, durability and energy efficiency of existing housing stock.. But that money won’t reach your pocket unless you get qualified.
A growing number of Federal, State and local homeowner incentive and weatherization programs—including the Home Performance with Energy Star® program—either encourage or require the work to be performed by individuals with credentials from the Building Performance Institute (BPI).
Why? Because BPI Certified Professionals and Accredited Contractors can prove that they are knowledgeable and competent in their fields because they’ve gone through detailed and standardized testing. BPI’s nationally recognized training and certification program is focused on the house-as-a-system approach to home performance diagnostics and prioritizing prescriptive retrofit work that maximizes return on investment for the homeowner and does not compromise the performance of other systems in the house.
BPI Certified Professionals enjoy increased employment opportunities because the companies they work for experience fewer customer call-backs, improved customer satisfaction ratings and an increased rate of referrals from those satisfied customers. Also, BPI Accredited Contractors are required to employ Certified Professionals and follow BPI Standards on their jobs. This enables them to take advantage of BPI’s independent, third-party Quality Assurance Program.
To accommodate the increased demand for BPI Certified Technicians thanks to the economic stimulus package, our network of local Affiliate training organizations is expected to at least double in 2009 and expand into more and more regions of the country.
