After two years in their early 1900s condo, these Washington, D.C., homeowners were ready to modernize their primary bathroom. The frameless glass shower takes center stage with a striking slab of veined quartzite on the back wall. Earth-toned stone pops against the bright white backdrop that envelops the room. A multi-sensory rain shower head mounts in the ceiling, and a closer chrome hand shower offers more directed spray. Two wall niches deliver convenient storage without adding clutter to the streamlined design. A floating double vanity features a silky matte glass top flowing into integrated glossy sinks above matching gray glass fronts.

On a trip to Europe, the clients experienced the joys of a Finnish sauna in their hotel bathroom and wanted the same experience at home. The CKBR designer discovered that some European home saunas feature glass walls versus solid walls. The custom cedar sauna with two glass walls was built in the former shower space. A relocated curbless shower with marble patterned porcelain tile, penny round tile on the floor and niche back add a luxe feel. The jetted tub was jettisoned for a smaller soaking tub and moved to accommodate a double vanity featuring a tower with reeded glass doors. They also wanted the comforts of heated bathroom floor. Custom framed mirrors add a special touch.

The clients approached Sun Design Remodeling Specialists, Inc., with a vision for a luxurious master bath. The master bathroom was only about 42 square feet, so to achieve their luxurious vision, more space was required. A small secondary bedroom used for storage, with views to the outdoors, presented a perfect location to relocate the master bathroom. The new master bath now boasts about 153 square feet with a freestanding soaking tub to sit amongst the wooded views. Porcelain tile that mimics the look of marble is used throughout. The vanity now accommodates both spouses, trimmed in emerald-green cabinetry and champagne bronze accents.

The homeowners desired a completely updated master bath remodel including a larger shower, French doors and accent walls. There were several delays in materials and manufacturing due to COVID-19, specifically the bathtub. The plumber was able to work with the team to continue the build. The bathroom is beautiful, and the homeowners are thrilled. They chose a stunning cherry whitewash finish for their master cabinets.
