The previous owners had begun finishing the lower level, and much of it required demolition to implement the new owners’ programming. Additional structural beams were added to open the spaces up to each other and, to include a fireplace, the company had to go through the main level to achieve venting. Part of the mechanical room was needed to create a new public powder room.

Figuring out what makes the family happy enabled the firm to enhance their living environment and embed their interests in the design. The natural area for a theatre is a space directly below the formal dining area, and an expert in building studios helped design the space for writing and making music as well as listening to and watching music. The bar doubles as a complete kitchen.
