After a devastating flood while they were out of town, the homeowners were forced into remodeling their home earlier than expected. The damages included the floors, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, baseboard, and drywall throughout the majority of the home. Rather than repair the damaged areas back to their original state, the homeowners decided to use the situation to their advantage, bringing us in to design a new floor plan that met the functional needs of their growing family while addressing the specific areas that needed to be restored.

The scope of the project included remodeling the kitchen, hall bathroom, flooring and existing guest bedroom and bathroom. The homeowners had intended to eventually convert their existing garage into additional living space and decided to expedite that phase as well while contractors were working in their home. The goals for the new additional living space were to add a second guest suite, pantry, laundry room, mud room and a pool bath. The design of the home was geared towards the Virginia native’s style, encompassing engineered wood flooring, shiplap walls, stained wood accent counters and modern farmhouse fixtures.
