The owner purchased the property and began some minor interior updates before moving into the home. Two months later a massive EF3 tornado cut a path 10 miles long across northwest Dallas. The house was spared, but its exteriors were destroyed; so, the goal was to create a sense of both beauty and function that would help him forget the pain of that tornado and see a brighter future.
After clearing the debris, the company could save only three trees on the entire property. The one remaining live oak in the center of the circular driveway anchors a modern angular design for the bed layouts that radiate from it. In the rear garden, the firm recreated the focal wall in white and charcoal grey stucco, added three water scuppers and covered an al fresco dining/cooking space.
