The biggest challenges homeowners typically face when updating homes constructed in the 1990s – beyond replacing dated materials — is rethinking spatial layouts with unsatisfactory flow for modern living. This Raleigh residence received a comprehensive redesign to create a more functional layout. Along the way, a more pleasing design aesthetic has been created. Interaction with the outdoors is a common thread with design decisions for the kitchen, living room, dining room, and primary bathroom. Combining underutilized space created a dramatic bathroom bathed in natural light. The transformation creates a personalized space for a growing family.

The goal for these homeowners was to turn an awkward and unused room into a warm, welcoming, and family-friendly flex space that could serve many purposes. They wanted an area to house their piano, collection of books, beloved LPs, and overflow dining for large gatherings with family and friends. The plan was to maximize the space to be a multi-functional Library/Music/Game room that is as functional as it is beautiful.

This family needed help with a new laundry room that would suit their everyday needs and help with organization and functionality. Expanding the existing space, all new cabinetry, appliances, paint, tile, and flooring allowed this laundry room to become both a functional and beautiful eye-catching addition to the home.
