The primary objective of this remodel was to create a children’s bathroom and add a primary bathroom on the top floor, while working within the existing structure. Utilizing a small covered patio off the primary bedroom enabled the team to squeeze/add an additional primary bathroom to this home.

Double glass pocket doors lead into the new bathroom, allowing natural light to come in and making the long narrow space feel wider. Small peek-a-boo windows provide privacy while capturing city views and natural light. The curb-less shower with heated floors, built-in bench, and handheld valve allows for easy aging in place. Porcelain tile on the floor that looks like wood adds warmth to the palette and transitions nicely into the shower with a classic hexagon “marble looking” porcelain tile. The longer shaped space gave the opportunity for two sinks with wall-mounted faucets, medicine cabinets above, and cabinets below that rest on legs for a traditional look with modern function.

The kids’ bathroom kept the sink and toilet in the same location, took a bit of space from the adjacent bedroom, and rotated the tub while combining it with the shower to make a perfect-sized kid’s bathroom. The color scheme is mainly white, providing a fresh, timeless, and bright backdrop to the view of the city. Small touches were incorporated into the design, such as a tiny chandelier, accent tile in the shower, and a porcelain tile floor with soft veining to add subtle interest.
