Sea Pointe Design & Remodel

Irvine, Calif.

Location: Ladera Ranch, Calif. | Project Cost: $74,527
Square Footage: 215

The project scope was to remodel approximately 215 square feet of the bathroom and closet, to provide and install cabinets, countertop, a new walk-in shower, bathtub, and vanity. The objectives were to give the primary bathroom a refreshed look with a more spacious and open feel.

The project challenges included giving the clients a new, refreshed, and open feel without getting rid of storage and functional space, and making the smaller-sized space feel larger while still showcasing character. To solve these challenges, the project solutions were to build a new vanity with a tower and provide a shampoo niche in the lower shower bench seat to still provide enough storage space without adding too many materials that would make it seem or feel bulky. The designers used the design opportunity to work their creative juices to give what the clients wanted visually while still meeting their expectations with how they used their space. A solution to making the space feel larger was to also get rid of the bulky built-in tub and swap it for a freestanding tub. They also wanted the small space to feel like it still had some character. This is where a variety of materials that offered many different textures and patterned design such as the flooring insets, shiplap tub splash, and two-toned cabinetry, with moody dark countertops were used.
