This commercial office building in the heart of Dupont Circle wanted to provide a shared conference space for its tenants on the 2nd floor. The architectural firm’s renovation plans centered on a pre-function area that doubles as a tenant lounge, a private restroom, and conference space with the new fitness center nearby. The overall challenge was to ensure the assembly spaces were code compliant for egress, which led the design using a Razortooth Design panel to provide some privacy while allowing adequate openings on either side for egress.

Renovations included lobby improvements, a new conference space for tenants and a new fitness center, designed in a modern and sophisticated style. The newly designed reception and security desk in the lobby was shifted closer to the building’s main entry doors for better functionality. A dated art installation at the elevator bank was replaced with a cluster of pendant lights, which adds interest as well as better lighting for the space. An elegant lounge area was also created to fully define the space and provide more seating.
