This home was very much a place the clients enjoyed, they just wanted a space that was a little more elevated and in line with their tastes. The three major focus areas were the kitchen, hearth room, and powder bathroom. Starting in the kitchen the client wanted a space that was brighter, had counter height seating, more storage, and a focal point. The hearth room the clients wanted to update their existing cabinetry to match the kitchen, remove the antiquated built-in hutch and slight upgrades to the wet bar. In the powder bathroom, they wanted to remove the existing textured walls, add wallpaper, and upgrade all the rest of the bathroom.

With this project the major challenge was the removal of the angled island and making sure that the new island encompassed the same amount of space that the original island did. Doing this ensured that there were minimal floor repairs. Another task was preserving the existing cabinets. The clients wanted to keep the existing cabinets and give them a fresh coat of paint. This meant that the island needed to match the existing door style as close as possible. The existing cabinetry also needed slight modifications, such as different door handles and the modifications of the tall cabinet to house the new double oven. This move allowed for a drawer microwave to be installed in the island.
