The owners wanted to keep the existing charm of their 100-year-old residence but make the necessary updates to accommodate a modern family and lifestyle. In addition to opening the kitchen and adding a large family room, they sought to create a scullery and mudroom off the side of the house and add a full basement with an additional bedroom.
They also requested to install a large slider off the back of the home for indoor/outdoor lifestyle and keep the existing wood floors, repurposing materials whenever possible. Everything needed to be leveled because the floor dipped 1.5 inches from one side of the house to the other. There were multiple areas of wood rot around the foundation, and all wiring/plumbing was replaced.
