After completing their interior spaces and exterior siding, the homeowners felt it was time to tackle their rotting and failing triple-decks that had become unusable due to safety concerns. Since the property slopes sharply toward a lake, the decks are the only outside areas where they can entertain and spend time with family, so it was important to maximize their footprint.
One of the owners, who works from home, requested a space where she could comfortably be outside regardless of weather or bugs, and she sought an area to practice yoga as well. It was also important to maintain the views to the lake from inside the home, as all these decks are off main areas—the top deck off the kitchen, the middle deck off the family room, and the lowest deck off the den.
