Balazs Named CEO of NKBA
Hackettstown, NJ Cecilia Balazs, who has been serving as the
chief staff officer of the National Kitchen & Bath Association
for more than a year, has been named as CEO of the trade
association, the NKBA announced.
The appointment, announced after the association’s most recent
board of directors meeting, also combines the positions of CEO and
chief operating officer (COO) under Balazs as CEO. The NKBA had
been functioning with Balazs handling both positions since
September of 1998, when former CEO Robert Hirsch resigned. Balazs,
an association executive with more than 30 years of experience, had
been serving as COO since March of 1998.
“The board feels the organization has been running very
effectively under Balazs’ leadership during the past 15 months,”
said NKBA’s 1999 president Jeff Burton.
One of Balazs’ primary projects over the past year has been
assisting the board of directors in developing a strategic plan for
the NKBA’s future. The implementation phase of that new plan began
this month, with the overall plan focusing primarily on membership
development and creating benefits for all facets of the kitchen and
bath industry. Other elements of the new strategic plan are aimed
at chapter growth and development, the building of consumer
awareness and efforts to monitor and influence the development of
public policy and legislation.
