Ceiling creates continuity, lightness, sophistication

by Kacey Larsen

The homeowners of a detailed and elegant home in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., found their kitchen lacking. Cabinetry and tile had been painted over in a style that did not coordinate with the rest of the home; additionally, the room was simply outdated. The homeowners wanted a decorative ceiling in the kitchen to match all other rooms on the first floor. The design called for the coffered ceiling and crown mouldings to look like part of the original architecture, which proved challenging over the course of the project. The result was a decorative ceiling that helped keep the kitchen light and airy while helping maintain sophistication and elegance.

Project location: Huntingdon Valley, Pa.

Contractor: Mark IV Kitchen & Bath, Abington, Pa.
