Ceilings use wooden beams for contrast

by Kacey Larsen

The beautiful coastal views visible from this Santa Barbara style home located on a corner lot in Crystal Cove, Calif., are worth seeing. But so are the ceiling elements employed in both the home’s galley kitchen and great room. The galley kitchen has a trey ceiling above the sink and island that draws interest with the light fixtures and the contrast of the wooden beams inset. Wooden beams are again used in the great room to create visual interest, creating the illusion of a coffered ceiling and adding an earthy-feel to the space.

Project location: Crystal Cove, Calif.

Contractor: C.R. Carney Architects, Inc., Tustin, Calif.
