Business technology and business software are offering new ways for remodelers and home improvement professionals to improve client experience and customer satisfaction. In what ways are you using software or technology to improve client experience?:

We utilize several different business technologies and software to improve our client’s experience and help guide their decisions through a remodeling project. Some of our most recent (and exciting) add ons are with Virtual Reality and Buildertrend. Our Virtual Reality allows our clients the ability to (virtually) walkthrough their new space as part of the design process and truly gives them a feel for the impact their remodel can make in their home. We find it to be especially helpful with room additions or projects that involve removing or reconfiguring walls and floor plans. Buildertrend has been helpful for our production department, while also giving our clients realtime data and information on their project through the client portal.

Rising costs for labor and building materials along with higher inflation on everything else is forcing remodelers and home pros to raise prices dramatically. Tell us about the most effective ways you are passing along these rising prices to your clients?:

We have been raising prices, without apology. Everyone knows prices are rising on nearly everything, and our clients have been receptive to the increased cost.

Supply shortages have required you to ask clients to go back and pick another finish or building material. What are your tips for handing these product trade-off conversations?:

It all comes down to the start date and what is more important to them. If they want to start sooner, they may need to select an alternate product. Or, for example, in the case of appliances, we can often offer to either give them a new kitchen sooner and hookup their old appliances in the meantime, or we can wait to start their kitchen until we know their new ones will be here.
