Deadline Looms for ‘Leadership’ Awards
Contest

Hackensack, NJ The end of this month is looming as the deadline
for nominations to be received for the fourth annual “Industry
Leadership Awards Competition” the Kitchen & Bath Design
News-sponsored awards program aimed at citing leadership excellence
among kitchen and bath dealers, distributors, sales reps, suppliers
and others.

Nominations for the 2002 competition will be accepted only
through July 31 with judging to take place in August, said Kitchen
& Bath Design News publisher Eliot Sefrin.
“Each year, we have recognized winners whose business achievements
have served as a benchmark even an inspiration for others,” Sefrin
said. “We anticipate that this year will be no exception, and that
most nominations will warrant serious consideration for this
award.”

K&BDN’s 2002 “Industry Leadership Awards Competition,” as in
the past three years, is aimed at honoring industry professionals
for outstanding achievements in eight categories that focus on
skills in business management, marketing, use of showrooms,
industry/community service, and related areas.

First-, second- and third-place winners will be honored in each
category. Award recipients will be profiled in the October issue of
K&BDN, and will receive article reprints and display
plaques.

Award categories include:

1. General Excellence in Operating a Kitchen & Bath
Dealership.

Open to independent kitchen and bath dealers, this award will honor
overall excellence in design, management, sales, marketing,
customer service, professionalism and other key aspects of
operating a successful dealership.

2. General Excellence in Operating a Kitchen & Bath
Distribution or “Whotail” Firm.

Open to kitchen/bath product distributors or “whotailers,” this
award will cite excellence in management, sales, marketing and
customer support for dealers, remodelers and other specifiers.

3. Most Innovative Kitchen or Bath Retail Marketing
Effort.

Open to dealers, designers, remodelers, cabinet shops,
“whotailers,” multi-branch and other kitchen/bath retailers,
nominated companies will be judged on the basis of their ability to
conceive and execute a targeted marketing effort that has combined
advertising, promotion and special events, while resulting in sales
growth.

4. Most Innovative Business Management
Strategy.

Open to dealers, designers, remodelers, cabinet shops,
“whotailers,” multi-branch and other kitchen/bath retailers, this
award will honor a company’s or individual’s ability to conceive
and implement a business management strategy that has resulted in a
tangible improvement in internal operations or corporate
profitability.

5. Most Innovative Showroom or Use of
Displays.

Open to dealers, designers, remodelers, cabinet shops,
“whotailers,” multi-branch and other kitchen/bath retailers,
winners in this category will be recognized for outstanding kitchen
and bath product merchandising, showroom design, use of displays,
or use of a showroom as a marketing vehicle.

6. Independent or Factory Sales Rep of the
Year.

Open to either factory-employed or independent sales
representatives, this category is aimed at honoring individuals for
successfully representing the interests of kitchen and bath product
suppliers, while demonstrating outstanding responsiveness to
customer needs.

7. Most Innovative Supplier Support
Program.

Open to manufacturers, importers or suppliers of kitchen/bath
products, this award will honor companies for successfully
conceiving and executing a support program that assists dealers or
distributors in sales, product expertise, showroom management and
related areas.

8. Kitchen & Bath Industry and/or Community
Service.

Open to any kitchen/bath industry-related individual, company or
group, this award will cite winners for organizing or participating
in an outstanding contribution to their community or the
industry.
