The clients wanted a pool casita that performed well and looked appropriate in the Colorado foothills. They entertain a lot, sometimes casually by the pool and sometimes as formal dinner parties.

The overall design of this pool casita needed to perform on multiple levels. Functionality, the building needed to provide an escape from the sun when the pool is in season but also work well as a recreational space for other months of the year. Aesthetically, the building needed to match an existing home in a prestigious neighborhood as well as look and feel like a pool house that fits in Colorado where the pool season is limited.

The five glass overhead doors were the primary design solution for creating a space that performs year-round. They provide insulation and daylight in bad weather, but can also completely open up to combine the indoors with the outdoors on nice days. Additionally, the outdoor living under the pergola is comfortable but Colorado rustic with the stone and cedar. The interior has its casual elements with the pool table and flags, but the fireplace lends a formal setting when appropriate.
