First Scholarship Winners to Be Announced

Orlando, FL A trio of students enrolled in kitchen and bath
curriculums at NKBA-endorsed colleges have been named as winners in
a new scholarship program launched this year by Kitchen & Bath
Design News.

The students, to be presented with scholarships at this month’s
Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) here, are the first to be
honored in the recently announced “2001 Student Designer
Scholar-ship” program, believed to be unique to the kitchen and
bath industry. Offered annually as part of the program are
scholarships of $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000, according to K&BDN
publisher Eliot Sefrin. Scholarship winners are also invited, as
K&BDN’s guest, to attend the annual K/BIS and National Kitchen
& Bath Conference.

The scholarships are being offered by K&BDN as part of an
NKBA-sponsored “Member Partnership Program,” which enables industry
companies to lend their support to a variety of educational,
research, promotional and other service-oriented efforts.

Judging for the competition was conducted by NKBA Director of
Professional Development John Spitz, CKD, CBD; NKBA Immediate Past
President Stephanie Witt, CKD, CBD, and Sefrin.

“We’re very pleased to be able to give something back to the
kitchen and bath industry in a way that helps quality students in
their efforts to enter the industry with the kind of solid
educational foundation offered through NKBA-endorsed colleges,”
Sefrin said.

“We hope, through this effort, that we can help in some small
way to raise the number of qualified designers entering the
industry.”
There are currently 29 colleges in the NKBA Endorsed College
Program, which was established to offer quality training at
accredited institutions to prospective kitchen and bath design
professionals.
