K&BDN Scholarships Available in ’03

Hackensack, NJ A scholarship program aimed at
assisting the educational endeavors of promising kitchen/bath
design students at NKBA-endorsed colleges will be offered for the
third year by Kitchen & Bath Design News.

The “Student Designer Scholarship” program, begun
in 2001, will be repeated in 2003, announced K&BDN publisher
Eliot Sefrin and NKBA officials.

“Kitchen & Bath Design News is very pleased,
once again, to be able to give something back to the industry and
help deserving students in their efforts to enter the kitchen and
bath design profession with the solid educational foundation
offered by NKBA-endorsed colleges,” Sefrin said.

“We just hope, through this program, that we can
help raise the number of qualified designers entering our
industry,” he added.
Offered in 2003 will be a series of scholarships totaling $5,000,
Sefrin noted. Scholarship winners will also be invited, as
K&BDN’s guest, to attend the 2003 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show
(K/BIS) and National Kitchen & Bath Conference, set for April
11-13 in Orlando. The winners will be presented with their awards
as part of the NKBA’s Gala Dinner on April 10, the evening prior to
the opening of the three-day K/BIS.

In order to be considered for a Student Designer
Scholarship, applicants must be registered as a full-time student
in one of the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s Endorsed
College programs; must be either in their sophomore or junior year;
and must have a minimum total GPA of 3.0. They must also submit an
essay of no more than 1,500 words on the topic of “What Are The
Most Important Attributes to Becoming a Good Kitchen & Bath
Design Professional?”

Judging will be conducted by NKBA past president
Gary West, CKD, CBD, and executive officer Allan Pattison, CMKBD,
along with Sefrin.

There are some 30 colleges that take part in the
NKBA-Endorsed College Program, which was established to offer
quality training to prospective kitchen and bath design
professionals.
