The COVID-19 pandemic changed homeowner interactions. What measures do you use to signal an extra level of care when working in or around a client’s home?
We posted CDC hand washing and safety guidelines at every job site provided by the Home Building Association of Virginia and insurance carrier. We built external washing stations for workers as they entered the properties. Portable toilets were provided on site as requested at the clients’ comfort level.
Seamless communication technology is now both necessary and expected. How have you used new technology platforms to promote better customer communication and satisfaction?
One problem that we have had in the past has been to get our older clientele to embrace new technology. If there is a silver lining in this pandemic then it is the fact that this demographic is now embracing new technology. Zoom has transformed our sales process in that all our initial consultations are done remotely. This platform allows us a face to face venue to communicate to a potential client all the safeguards that we have in place to ensure their comfort level when we are in their home. Also, should any issues arise, a video chat quickly resolves any issues and often results in additional sales opportunities.
What was your message to clients with projects in progress in order to keep them happy and satisfied during the uncertainty of the stay-at-home period?
We let them know that we were working diligently to get their projects completed in a safe manner, We limited crews to no more than two at a time. This may have extended their projects slightly but it provided a higher comfort level for the clients. We were in constant contact with our supply chain vendors to ensure an uninterrupted work flow. When needed, suppliers were adjusted to meet our clients needs.
