Merit Kitchens Acquired by SieMatic Group

Bensalem, PA Merit Kitchens Ltd., the Canada-based manufac-turer
of semi-custom kitchen and bath cabinetry, has been acquired by The
SieMatic Group, the companies announced.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Frank Siekmann, chairman of the SieMatic America Group, said the
Bensalem, PA-based SieMatic will operate Merit as an independent
subsidiary and will retain the Merit brand, product line and
315-member dealer network. Merit will continue to operate out of
its current location in Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver, British
Columbia, Siekmann added.

“This acquisition is part of SieMatic’s ongoing strategy to
broaden our product line and move into the semi-custom cabinet
market in North America in a stronger way,” Siekmann observed,
noting that, with the Merit acquisition, SieMatic now has some
300,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space in North America.

SieMatic’s high-end custom cabinetry is manufactured in Germany
and Kitchener, Ontario. SieMatic also manufactures the Beckermann
Imperial line of semi-custom cabinetry.

Siekmann said the Merit, Beckermann and SieMatic brands will
continue to be manufactured in separate factories, and will remain
distinctly different brands, with separate product lines and
separate dealer networks.

SieMatic is represented in 46 countries and has worldwide annual
sales of more than $130 million, according to Siekmann, whose
family founded the cabinet manufacturer
in 1929.
