Phoenix Firm To Distribute Hi-MACS Line

Englewood Cliffs, NJ LG Chemical America, Inc., the manufacturer
of the Hi-MACS acrylic solid surfacing product line, has appointed
a leading Phoenix, AZ-based distribution firm as its new North
American master distributor, the company announced.

LG Chemical America, which is headquartered here, said last month
that its appointment of The Premium Solid Source “is in the best
interest of both LG Chemical America Inc. and the valuable
customers of our Hi-MACS products.”

“We are currently working closely with The Premium Solid Source to
establish an inventory level in the marketplace that will enable us
to grow our market share and ensure prompt delivery of our
products,” said LG Chemical America president K.S. Park.

Park added that the company has already “delivered a substantial
amount of products into North America, and anticipates establishing
sufficient inventories” to meet market demand in the near
future.

LG Chemical America has been involved in a legal dispute with the
company that, until recently, had been serving as its exclusive
U.S. sales, marketing and distribution arm. At issue is whether or
not LG Chemical America and its parent company, the Korean-based LG
Chemical Ltd., breached its contract or was justified in its
decision earlier this year to terminate its relationship with the
Tampa, FL-based Decorative Laminates, Inc. (DLI), formerly known as
LG Decorative Surfaces.

DLI, operating as LG Decorative Surfaces, had been acting as the
sales and marketing arm, and the exclusive North American
distributor, of Hi-MACS for some 30 months, until mid-2000. In that
time, Hi-MACS sales in North America had risen from about $1.4
million in 1998 to $13 million in 1999, according to DLI. Hi-MACS
sales for 2000 have been projected at some $25 million by DLI.
