Business technology and business software are offering new ways for remodelers and home improvement professionals to improve client experience and customer satisfaction. In what ways are you using software or technology to improve client experience?:

The 3D scanning capabilities have greatly reduced the time to complete a site measurement and get clients 3D renderings of options. We are seeing clients enjoying the ability to get on zoom calls to do a collaborative design session where they can explore 3D models rather than 2D blueprints.

Rising costs for labor and building materials along with higher inflation on everything else is forcing remodelers and home pros to raise prices dramatically. Tell us about the most effective ways you are passing along these rising prices to your clients?:

Communication is key. We do our best to reduce the time from design until items are ordered. We pre-order as many materials as possible so the prices are fixed. While we do have a “material price escalation” clause in our standard contract we luckily have not had to use it yet and have been able to maintain fixed-price contracts. It is important we do our best to maintain our word with our clients when it comes to pricing.

Supply shortages have required you to ask clients to go back and pick another finish or building material. What are your tips for handing these product trade-off conversations?:

We pre-order as many materials as quickly after design as possible. We have had to invest in a larger storage area to accommodate this, but it has helped minimize the need to re-design because of supply chain shortages. During the design phase, we tend to work from inspiration photos first and then provide options for materials we know are something we can source.
