Cladding unites ancient tradition with performance

From: Thermory USA

Ignite by Thermory USA combines the aesthetic of “yakisugi” or “shou sugi ban” that originated in 18th century Japan with the modern, reliable performance of thermally-modified wood. Because the yakisugi process involves charring only the outer exposed layer, long-term durability issues and inconsistencies are common—all of which are eliminated with the company’s thermally-modified wood. The cladding is made of Scots pine and includes a Class 2 durability rating, which is 20-plus years. Three lengths are available in a 1- by 6-in. grooved profile and in a brushed or “dragon scale” texture.
