Connected Wall Oven

A sleek, dual convection wall oven from Jenn-Air, scheduled for availability in September, will be the brand’s first with wireless connectivity and a fully functioning application for IOS and Android devices. The app will give users control of the oven’s functions and performance from their smartphones and tablets, including cooking innovations unique to Jenn-Air.

“Enabling users to keep any eye on what’s happening in the kitchen while entertaining in the living room is just a tiny part of what the oven and app can do,” notes Brian Maynard, Jenn-Air marketing director. “We’ve also incorporated diagnostics and a range of other highly intuitive functions that will encourage users to explore and control the oven’s advanced features and performance right at the touch of their fingertips.”

According to Maynard, the double oven’s connectivity and app are a natural outgrowth of other user interface innovations from Jenn-Air. They include the industry’s first 7-inch full-color touch-anywhere LCD display and first slider technology under glass, which allows users to slide a bar on the touchscreen to achieve desired temperatures without entering numbers.

Among many unique features accessible via the app is the Jenn-Air® Culinary Center, an interactive, image-driven system that uses the oven’s advanced cooking system, a series of precise algorithms, and chef-tested cooking programs to give cooks the ultimate control in achieving desired results. The Culinary Center provides guidance for more than 30 food options and considers such details as food category, food type, desired doneness and type of cookware or bakeware used. Color images illustrating doneness levels are combined with exclusive visuals showing how and where to insert the temperature probe for a variety of dishes.

The app will also tap the Jenn-Air brand’s “My Creations” function, which allows users to seamlessly combine up to three cooking modes and save the settings for favorite recipes.

The new wall oven incorporates the Jenn-Air brand’s V2TM Dual-Fan Convection System, which uses two fan-equipped convection elements rated at a total of 6,800 watts to rotate air in opposite directions. This convection system offers even baking on all three racks simultaneously and the responsive power required for the brand’s No Preheat function, allowing cooking on one rack without any preheating and without extending recipe time. For added power and versatility, the ovens also include 4,000-watt reflective broil elements.

Further enhancing user control and flexibility, six convection modes are paired with Auto Convection Conversion to automatically translate conventional cooking times to convection times.

Other new features include soft-close doors along with a front mounted oven light and a larger window for improved visibility. An enhanced full-extension glide rack features smooth operation for easier placement and removal of dishes to and from the oven.
