Lush surroundings provide a stunning backdrop for this modern indoor-outdoor space. Whether the homeowners are enjoying weeknight family meals or simply cozying up next to the fireplace, their new outdoor living space is the ideal, secluded area for both entertaining and taking in the panoramic mountain views.
The homeowners were able to create a truly customized and seamless look with the help of modular cabinetry and refrigeration. The powder-coated cabinetry can be stocked with cook tools and dishware. Dual-refrigerator drawers complete the cooking area for added convenience, resulting in a functional and cohesive space.
Serving as the heart of the outdoor living space, the grill provides exceptional cooking capacity for large parties or small gatherings. A pizza oven situated in the lower level creates a multi-level experience and can be conveniently moved to different locations with minimal setup.

The owners of a 1920s Spanish Revival-style house converted their garage to a home gym and next set their sights on a total backyard makeover. The new raised deck at the same level as the interior provides a seamless connection, and a motorized louvered pergola attached to the house provides control over the amount of sun and shade it receives. A rain sensor triggers the louvers to automatically close when it begins to rain, helping to protect the new space from the elements.
The backyard now includes a pool and built-in spa, complete with swim jets and a “teahouse-style” pool cabana. Rounding out the playground-at-home concept was the homeowners’ wish for a grassy area to kick around a soccer ball with their young son and dog. To achieve this goal, one-third of the 160-foot-long paved driveway has been converted to drivable grass.

Focused on symmetry, the project incorporates formal English landscaping as well as hornbeam hedging. The pool house is laden with lattice siding all the way up with a lattice feature that ties in the pergola over the spa, and the patios are laid with Indiana limestone done by Artistic Stone. JaCo seamlessly matched the new brick to blend into the existing house.
The doors and gates are true mortise and tenon construction. The company used Hydroso plaster on the swimming pool and added Bevolo copper lanterns from New Orleans. It also punctured holes and swapped out windows to create a cohesive indoor-outdoor experience, as the project resides in the side yard of the property. A brick masonry wall gives the privacy that a pool area needs and deserves, and all the trees are newly planted and were craned into place.

With a love to entertain outdoors and appreciate the beautiful natural setting of their home, the clients wanted an impressive outdoor kitchen that would feel just like an indoor kitchen with all the same amenities and ease of use. The new kitchen is the focal point of an outdoor living space that encompasses a fire pit with a seating area and an infinity pool.
An innovative louvered roof protects the kitchen from sun and rain while also making a strong design statement with a bold architectural profile. Its integrated LED lighting imbues the kitchen with a glamorous and colorful glow after dark. A striking gabion wall is the backdrop for a large TV that can be viewed from the bar.
The outdoor kitchen integrates one of the largest BBQ appliances on the market, along with an under-counter refrigerator, integrated waste management, a pullout for cooking utensils, large drawers for pizza oven trays, and abundant storage. A warming drawer was cleverly located to keep pool towels dry and cozy.

The clients needed a functional outdoor space to entertain and for their children to enjoy during the sunny summer days, so the company transformed their awkward, underused multi-deck areas into a more cohesive space. It added a BBQ with a countertop and motorized awning window by the kitchen as well as a fire pit that looks out into the ocean and a covered patio with a fireplace.
Additional elements include dual water features and motorized shades that operate when the sun sets, or an afternoon game is on the TV. The upper patio deck has been extended to incorporate a Jacuzzi and dry bar. At the front patio, the company extended the tile flooring and added another water feature with bench seating for the homeowners to enjoy with their morning coffee.

After being in their home for more than 28 years, the owners wanted more out of their residence. They desired a covered porch with a multi-level deck just outside their sunroom and a large patio with a fireplace, so they could spend chilly falls night by the fire.
The company drew up a 16- by 25-foot covered porch with a cedar panel ceiling and a linear gas fireplace with a TV mounted above it, wrapping around the stone chimney. Two large skylights help brighten up this area, which is adorned with porcelain floor tiles. The company constructed much-needed storage just below the covered porch area to store lawn mowers and yard furniture.
Now, the clients can use the deck for dining and grilling while they get to enjoy their grandkids run around the backyard and patio area.

With a front walkway, courtyard, seating area, backyard landscaping, pool, spa, fireplace and custom waterwall with a custom sculpture feature on their wish list, the homeowners desired a modern resort feel. Their long, narrow backyard space presented a challenge, but the company opted to emphasize it by keeping the pool strait and running it as far down the yard as possible.
The company also chose to work off a grid based on the size of the porcelain paver used for all the decking and pool surfaces, running that pattern following the length of the yard. This created a subtle yet noticeable emphasis on the length of the space. Using two colors, the company made stripes and aligned them with the paver pattern. The wood decking even runs in the same direction.

The clients have elementary aged children who love to play in their backyard. They have been working from home and wanted to find a better indoor-outdoor connection that worked with their family to create a better work-life balance. Being a corner lot, they also had a desire to enhance curb appeal; however, there was only one entrance point to the outside from the rear of the main level, which was not easily accessible.
A rear covered porch with multiple zones for functionality and improved outdoor access was the answer. It incorporates an outdoor kitchen and a designated patio area to gaze at the stars while keeping warm around the fire pit. In addition, the siding, garage configuration and driveway also were included in the overall design to enhance curb appeal.
