QR: Your team was able to achieve high rates of customer satisfaction during the pandemic, a time of greater scrutiny because clients were at home more. There were also supply-chain delays. What measures did your firm take to maintain client satisfaction?

We were able to leverage our client facing software called “BuilderTrend” and consolidate our scheduling and communication within the app. Our clients can view their project schedule from their phone so they are more in touch than ever before. Our team and trades are under a micro-focus now and we inform the client that there might be gaps in the schedule or a trade contractor might not be on-site every day. It is important to plan and be aware of lead times on products as early as possible. Then we know the standard lead time for various manufacturers (Cabinets, plumbing fixtures, windows, etc.) and can adapt our schedule to it. It is now necessary to preorder as many products as possible and then verify the package is not damaged before we store it for a period of time.

QR: Firms with happier employees have higher levels of customer satisfaction. What are the top ways you are able to keep your employees happy and satisfied?

The variability of the remodeling market can stress out our team but we have learned to set parameters with client and trade contractors so that communication both ways are streamlined. This way our design team and production team are not fielding calls and texts late into the night but instead have a mutual agreement for a work life balance.

QR:Purpose driven” companies, those that exist to effect change or take action on something bigger than their products or services, attract a younger, higher skilled employees who tend to be more engaged workers. Some firms connect their “purpose” to a written mission statement. Do you operate a purpose-driven organization? And in what ways does your firm extend itself to outside causes.
