Lincolnton, N.C. – Schumacher
Homes
, a leading on your lot
custom home builder and Ply
Gem
, a leading manufacturer of
residential exterior building products in North America, hosted a
ribbon cutting ceremony on October 26 at the Lincolnton, N.C. home of
Great Green Giveaway winners, Wray and Sarah Warner.

The ribbon cutting, attended by the Warners, representatives from
Schumacher Homes, Ply Gem and local vendors involved in the build,
marked the completion of the contest and gave attendees a chance to
tour the home for the first time. Custom built by Schumacher Homes, the
Craftsman-style house features a Designed Exterior by Ply Gem product
package of NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Research Center
Green Approved windows, vinyl siding and stone valued at up to $30,000.

Upon winning the contest, the Schumacher design team worked with the
Warners to customize the initial home design adding Craftsman-style
details with input from BSB Design, an architectural firm that
specializes in using low-maintenance materials to achieve historically
accurate designs. The Ply Gem product package of ENERGY STAR rated
aluminum clad wood windows, insulated vinyl siding, polymer shakes and
shingles and stone veneer was worked into the design.

“At Schumacher Homes, our goal is to custom build energy
efficient houses, and we’re thrilled to see the
Warner’s dream home finally come to life,” said
Paul Schumacher, founder of Schumacher Homes. “Teaming up
with Ply Gem for the Great Green Giveaway
helped us take this goal one step further by awarding the Warner family
with home exterior products recognized for energy efficiency, low
maintenance and recycled content.”

The Great Green Giveaway began when Paul Schumacher of Schumacher Homes
won the first annual Designed Exterior by Ply Gem sweepstakes that took
place during the 2010 International Builders’ Show. As a
result, he kicked off the Great Green Giveaway in April 2010 passing
his prize onto potential customers and giving homebuyers around the
country planning to build with Schumacher Homes a chance to win. In May
2010, Lincolnton, N.C. residents Wray and Sarah Warner were announced
as contest winners; construction of their home began in early summer
and was completed in October 2010. Look for details about the second
giveaway contest at the 2011 International Builders’ show.

“The Designed Exterior by Ply Gem makes it easy for
homeowners to envision how mixing and matching window and cladding
options can personalize the home and help them achieve an array of
architectural styles,” said John Stephenson, vice president,
corporate marketing and communications, Ply Gem. “Ply Gem
provided the Warners with low maintenance home exterior products that
increase their home’s overall energy efficiency and comfort
and we’re happy to see them applied to their new custom-built
house.”

“We’re ecstatic to move into our new
home!” said Sarah Warner. “Working with Schumacher
Homes throughout this process has been a great experience and my
husband and I could not have asked for a better outcome. Winning the
Great Green Giveaway gave us the chance to upgrade the exterior of our
home with beautiful products to enhance the Craftsman style of our
house.”

The Warner’s new two-story Craftsman-style home combines the
timeless charm of a center hall colonial with today’s modern
amenities. The interior of the home includes formal living and dining
rooms, a commercial-grade kitchen and a two-story great room.
Additional features include a large master bedroom with a
walk-in-closet, three bedrooms and a loft. Other stand-out features of
the home are a see-through indoor/outdoor fireplace and a screened
porch.
