Business technology and business software are offering new ways for remodelers and home improvement professionals to improve client experience and customer satisfaction. In what ways are you using software or technology to improve client experience?:
We have been using Co-Construct project management software for about 7 years now. It enables transparency and collaboration for all of our residential construction projects through detailed specifications, daily job logs and a construction schedule that is viewable by our clients 24/7 during the project. We have recently begun using the software during pre-construction to ensure that all items for a project are accounted for in scope and pricing and have seen great success in terms of budget maintenance and procurement.
Rising costs for labor and building materials along with higher inflation on everything else is forcing remodelers and home pros to raise prices dramatically. Tell us about the most effective ways you are passing along these rising prices to your clients?:
Transparency. We have used allowances for big ticket items that have been fluctuating on a week-to-week basis, particularly lumber and have been selecting, approving, buying and storing finish items and fixtures to insulate our clients from potential cost increases.
Supply shortages have required you to ask clients to go back and pick another finish or building material. What are your tips for handing these product trade-off conversations?:
Review, select, approve, and purchase items as soon as possible in the process. We have dramatically improved the timing by which we select and purchase items to limit re-selects due to availability. We monitor procurement items on a weekly basis so that our clients and field staff are aware when items will be received, and to ensure they will be ready for installation.
