Technology: Business Apps Offer Help In Hand

by Kacey Larsen

According to the PewResearch Center’s “Mobile Fact Sheet,” 95 percent of Americans now own a cellphone of some kind—77 percent of them have smartphones—and roughly half own tablets. Why not take advantage of this proliferation for your business, if you aren’t already? Business apps can add value, expedite certain processes, increase communication from the jobsite to the office, and more. We have compiled a sampling of business apps that can help on the jobsite and with clients.

Fieldwire

Recognizing construction management is challenging, Fieldwire provides a construction management platform that connects a project team—including subcontractors—with drawings and blueprints, lean construction scheduling, and building and punch list features. The drawing and blueprint app works even when offline and allows for markups, annotations and hyperlinks to be added directly onto blueprints. Unlimited drawings can be added to the plan viewer. Fieldwire’s construction scheduling software aids with the day-to-day execution of a construction schedule by making it easy to create and assign tasks—designating an owner, priority, due date and category. Whenever a task is updated, the app sends mobile notifications to everyone currently or previously attached to each task to ensure synchronization; an email digest can be scheduled and sent to identify active tasks. The building inspection and punch list app keeps project data organized and offers inspection and checklist templates. Photos can be recorded with annotations and markups, and punch list reports can be sent automatically to subcontractors.

Fieldwire integrates with a range of software suites to facilitate uploading drawings and documents, including DropBox, Google Drive and Excel. A free trial is available, then users select a plan based on needs and number of users. The app is available in the App Store and Google Play, or visit fieldwire.com.

Users can add their company’s contracts or terms and conditions to documents.

Upgrading to JobFLEX Pro includes the directory feature, a CRM, scheduling tools and reports. JobFLEX is available for Android through Google Play, or visit job-flex.com.

Leap One

Designed to provide home improvement contractors with a simple solution to go digital, Leap aims to solve the pain points of running a business, such as writing accurate estimates and contracts, ensuring salespeople maintain current price guides, and promptly passing along orders to the office. Leap creates a paperless in-home sales process. The app can be integrated with CRM systems—MarketSharp, Lead Perfection, improveit 360 and Salesforce—to access customer information in the field. Similarly, the app can import measurements taken using EagleView and use them to further estimates. Because the app can be customized with the manufacturers, products and pricing offered by a user/company, it “reacts” to information, so only the window offerings, for example, that will fit per the measurements will appear as a selectable option for estimates and contracts. Another example is Leap communicates with ProVia’s entryLINK system by downloading information from saved orders and using it to draw contracts and proposals, eliminating costly reorders. Contracts and proposals can include drawings and visuals of the products selected and/or discussed. Financing options can be directly integrated through the app, including partnerships with Green Sky and Service Finance; the app allows for dynamic reaction if a customer is seeking certain terms or payment plans. It offers real-time data management and communication resources—such as pricing guides and brochures—can be stored, updated and distributed through the app.

Leap One is available for iPhones and iPads through the App Store, or visit leaptodigital.com. |QR
