Hundreds of viewers shared the excitement when NARI announced 42 national winners of its prestigious Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards during a livestream video presentation in March.

Each year, NARI presents CotY Awards to members who have demonstrated outstanding work through their remodeling projects. The CotY Awards are the highest form of recognition by industry leaders and peers. This year, NARI received nearly 455 entries from across the U.S. representing more than $134 million in remodeling projects.

“National CotY winners represent the pinnacle of achievement in remodeling. Their work is at the top of the industry,” said Andy Apter, CKBR, UDCP, president of NARI. “The CotY Awards allow us to celebrate our members who are committed to design, best practices, integrity, high standards and professionalism.”

NARI members from around the nation submitted projects for consideration in 48 categories from kitchen and bathroom to exterior and outdoor living spaces.

An impartial panel of 14 judges, all experts in the remodeling industry or associated fields, selected the winners. They reviewed before-and-after photos and project descriptions for each anonymous entry. Evaluations are based on problem-solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of functionality and entry presentation. The judges chose 192 regional winners from across the country and 42 national winners for 2023.

To celebrate the winners, many companies and NARI chapters held watch parties showing the video on a big screen. NARI of Central Ohio members gathered for a fun afternoon to cheer on several companies who received national recognition. Chapter members were also surprised to learn they received the Chapter Community Service Achievement Award.

DeRhodes Construction employees in Mint Hill, North Carolina, posted a photo of their team celebrating their win in the Residential Kitchen Over $150,000 category and tweeted, “That winning feeling!” Owens Construction in Worthington, Ohio, posted on Facebook that they had fun celebrating their hard work while watching the livestream event together and were honored to win a regional and National CotY Award for a residential addition.
