Two Associations Join Forces
Reno, NV Two industry-related trade associations the
International Hardware Distributors Association (IHDA) and the
North American Building Material Distribution Association (NBMDA)
have consolidated into one organization, the associations
announced.
Under the terms of the merger agreement, the IHDA will dissolve
its current operations and become a membership segment of the
Chicago-based NBMDA, which already has membership segments in
kitchen products and cabinet manufacturing products distribution.
IHDA’s membership consists of hardware wholesalers and
manufacturers.
The consolidation is part of a strategic plan aimed at paving
the way to stronger educational programs, networking events and
research efforts, the NBMDA said.”Trade associations should mirror
the industry they serve,” said NBMDA executive v.p. Kevin
Gammonley. “This [merger] comes at a time of increased industry
consolidation and a need for distributors and their representative
trade associations to consider possible strategic partnerships in
an effort to deliver greater value at lower costs.”
