The COVID-19 pandemic changed homeowner interactions. What measures do you use to signal an extra level of care when working in or around a client’s home?

To relocate client meetings outdoors, in well ventilated areas, or by conference call To provide water, soap and hand sanitizer to job sites. Stagger locations of field staff. Closed the office to outside traffic to prevent essential personnel from being infected. For office personnel to work remotely from home when possible.

Seamless communication technology is now both necessary and expected. How have you used new technology platforms to promote better customer communication and satisfaction?

Activated the owner site on Buildertrend where homeowners could view their schedule, selections and other project information. Utilized Team Viewer so office employees could work from home still being able to access the accounting, estimating and CAD software. Relocated a Voip phone to a work from home address to receive customer calls. Scheduled virtual design presentations using Team Viewer combined with conference calls. Used Free Conference Call to keep our weekly key employee meeting viable.

What was your message to clients with projects in progress in order to keep them happy and satisfied during the uncertainty of the stay-at-home period?

Our message was that the home was an important safe haven and that we were taking precautions to protect them and to take care of their home. That we had essential personnel on call and available to tend to home maintenance and emergencies. We offered free prescription and grocery delivery to any client in need.
