The COVID-19 pandemic changed homeowner interactions. What measures do you use to signal an extra level of care when working in or around a client’s home?
Working in the homes of people who are quarantined to stay in their home is not easy. At a bonus room project we avoided frequent trips through the kitchen by erecting stairway scaffolding in the driveway so our carpenters and subcontractors could access the job site directly through the double window. We posted signs in Spanish and English with graphics: “Wear a mask – Social distance – Wash hands with soap.”
Seamless communication technology is now both necessary and expected. How have you used new technology platforms to promote better customer communication and satisfaction?
Design-build involves weeks of design presentations, client feedback, revisions and final construction documents. Wood Wise shifted from sit-down meetings in our office to Zoom presentations online. Additionally, thirty minutes prior to the online meeting we drove to their home to place large format plans at their front door to enable them to see ¼”” scale drawings during the design discussion.
What was your message to clients with projects in progress in order to keep them happy and satisfied during the uncertainty of the stay-at-home period?
In mid-March we emailed clients that we would be taking precautions at all job sites. We wanted to confirm we would continue working, as our state policies allowed, but with assurance that anyone not feeling 100% healthy would not be allowed to come to work. Our email stated we would wipe all doorknobs and handles at the end of each workday.
